Exercise and Eating Right

Everyone needs to exercise to maintain their body function and to keep all of your parts running and in good working order.  Our bodies are complex creations and machines that need to have all of their parts used and pushed to perform better for our overall health.

What I have noticed is when someone wants to start an exercise routine they go in head first, all out, and manage to injure or strain themselves to the point of not being able to go back to the gym or exercise routine for several days which leads to them quitting.

I have found what works for me is to get started and ease into an exercise routine by doing a little each day and increasing your level of activity as you go.  The way I look at it is if you haven’t been doing anything, doing 15 to 30 minutes on the treadmill is more than the day before of doing no exercise.  The same with using free weights or weight machines start off easy and increase a little each day.

When it comes to eating right and I don’t like the term dieting because that somehow indicates you are going to do something drastic with your food routine.  What I think people need to do is learn how to eat healthy.  No, not going full on vegan, Paleo, no carbs or some of other latest craze, but learning how to eat the right portions and the right blend of the food pyramid.  And before you jump on me I do understand that there are people who need to eliminate certain foods that affect their health, so do what you need to live healthy.

If you do a little reading and research you will see that prepared foods contain huge amounts of sodium and other preservatives.  I find it is not that difficult to cook my own healthy meals from scratch.  Sometimes I cook up a weeks worth of meals and store them in the refrigerator or freezer.

A great web site to visit for exercise programs, workouts, nutrition, fitness, motivation, meal plans and recipes is Neila Ray at http://neilarey.com/   Please note that I have no association with this organization or do I get any compensation from them.  They are a group that I found on the Internet with lots of good information to download for free.

You can support this project and donations can be as little as $1 and anywhere up from there that you feel comfortable contributing to.  Everything is in a PDF format with great graphics and will print out really nice so you can make your own books and save the files on your computer.  If you don’t know it PDF files can be placed in your iBook’s to view on your iPhone or iPad.

Good luck with your exercise plan and eating healthy!
